January 21, 2003

 

Today was teacher development day for JPS. Therefore, no students were present on this say. Mrs. Hutchins, Mrs. Simpson and I took this time to review work for the week and goals for this month. I also had time to get to know my teachers better as well as some of the rules and regulations of the classroom and Casey Elementary. Today was a great day. I am so excited.

 

Today I helped the children with their morning work. Morning work includes Math, Language arts and English. I also graded many homework assignments that were do today for a grade. I helped Mrs. Hutchins facilitate a assignment. Today was great and I'm learning so much.

 

Today was a great day. I really connected with the students. They are begining to know my name as well am learning theirs. We reviewed for our math and english test for friday. I feel more comfertable day by day. I also have two great teachers that I learn from everyday.

 

Today was another great day. The teacher and I introduced a new English topic. Antoynms is what we introduced today and the students seemed to grasp it well. I was also plesently surprised when I saw one of my directors come in to evaluate me. Today was a good day.

 

 

January 28, 2003

 

Today was great. I played games with the children and taught half a lesson. I think I am ready to handle this all by my self. It's going great. Also I was visited again by a director.

 

Today was a good day. I took on some responsibility by my self. We also broke into groups for our story we are reading. Every group had to do something different. I was head of one group and it was a lot of fun. I truly adore my teacher (Ms. Hutchins) because I have learned a lot from her. She doesn't even know how much I wacth here and learn from her. I am so blessed to have had a good ST teacher, because I have truly learned from her.

 

Today was a fun day. I felt a little sick but the kids were good. We took a spelling test and a  math test. I had an overall good day and I'm looking foward to my actual teaching time starting Monday.

Today was a very interesting day. I did a large amount of work, but it felt good.

 

February 3, 2003

 

Today was the day I taught my lesson. The students were a little dead, maybe due to the rainy weather. I think I got some information across but not a lot. I think another thing that added to the "dead" day was that only half of the class was there. So I'm looking foward to tomorrow.

 

February 4, 2003

 

Today was great, My lesson went very well. I did a synoynm bingo game, synonym word search and a lot of other fun activities. I had full class participation it was so fun. I wish today was one of the days evaluated, but I'm sure the other days will go well.

 

Today I continued with my lesson. At this point I am starting to have fun and become more comfertable with the students and the enviorment. I feel the students are starting to connect as well. I am having a lot of fun.

Today we are preparing for our test tommorrow. I feel the students are ready though some still confuse antonyms with synonms. I had a good day today.

Today was a pretty easy day. I reviewed with the students and then passed out the test. Some students did well while others did not follow directions. I was also informed that My teacher would be out next week. I took this as the perfect time to show "my stuff". I would be teaching Spelling and English. I'm looking foward to it.

Today I taught both of the lessons as well as others things. It was so fun, I felt like I was the teacher. I escorted them places and mointered activities. I had a blast today. The children really respect me and that makes it all the better.

Today was Parent Teacher Confrence day for JPS so no classes where held.

 

Today was a great day. I wrapped up my lesson on synonyms and I believe the students have a great understanding of synoyms. I also gave them their spelling test. Then we had a Valentine's Day party.

Today I introduced Homoyms to the students. Some grasped it and others were lost. I think I will have to find other ways to get them to understand.

Today we continued review and made homonym books. We had a fun day.

Today I introduced fractions to the class. They really seemed interested but it took them time to grasp the concept.

Today we tested. I believe they did well.

 

Today I reviewed  materials with the students that they wil be tested on. I had  great day, I am going to be so sad to leave Casey. Ireally love it here.

Today I did a little of everything. I really like how the students respect me as as thier teacher. I went math with word problems today. I gave then tips on things to look for, and I think they got a good idea of what was going on.

My last day....It was so sad. They gave me a party and the students all gave me gifts they made and purchased. Mrs. Htuchins and Mrs. Simpson both got me buetifual gifts that i will forever cherish. I will miss Casey.

Today I started my new school, Walton Elementary. I did not do much today, just observed.

Today I continued observing the class. This is much different from what i'm use to so I am taking notes. In 5th grade there is departmentization.

Today I started doing some minor things. I went over the homework with each class and met a lot of the adminisration.

Today was a good day. I am starting to get use to the class and all Ms. Banks students. I still haven't found my place but I will get there.

Today was the first day when I had to set some rules and give some punishments. I felt like the children were starting to over run me so I had to hurry up and nip that in the bud. It went fine though. But I'm happy it's Friday.

Today I will make the best of this week. I weill throw myself in what the students are doing and make everything much better.

Today was great. My teacher voice was gone and I had to take over. It was so on the spot. I loved it. We went over fractions, one of my favorites. Great day.

Today I reviewed homework. I was also told that wednesday will be my first day teaching a lesson all by myself. I will be doing them on converting fractions to decimals.

Today I mainly observed. There was a group activity for each class. Therefore, it wasn't much for me to do.

Today went fine. I taught a partial lesson. I'm starting to get the bug of wanting to be finished. Graduation is almost here.

I taught part two of my lesson today. I had a few problems with on e class. I really had to lay it down and gave out some punishments. But it helped establish that i can be nice but mean when I need to be.

Today I began my lesson of Multipliying and dividing fractions. I really learned so many things. It's true what they say: "teachers never stop learning". After remembering how to do this I was wondering why this was so hard for me in the 5th grade. I had a good day.

I HAVE MADE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!CLASS OF 2003 ASU!!!!!!!!!!!THANK YOU LORD!!!!!!!!!!!I have enjoyed my experience at Walton and Casey. I can truly say that I have learned from both of them.
